The Mr. and Mrs. Club dates to 1949, is limited to 125 married couples and its membership spans several generations. Its objective is to provide fun and fellowship with a touch of elegance.
The Mr. and Mrs. Club has evolved into a flagship organization of its kind in the Columbus Community over the years. The Club's most senior members recall being on a waiting list for three years before a spot became available to them, and the club enjoys that status today.
Ballroom Dance has recently enjoyed a resurgence in popularity and guest attendance has reflected that. There is no qualification for acceptance to the Mr. and Mrs. Club membership apart from marriage, although each prospective couple must be sponsored by two current member couples and attend at least two functions as guests before submitting their application for membership.
Life long friendships and special interest relationships have sprung from the wholesome couples-oriented fun and activities inherent to club participation.
Once each month, the club holds a dance to live ballroom music with multiple black-tie optional functions each year. Black Tie Optional (BTO) dances always offer dinner as an option and the club has regular "theme dances" around seasons or holidays. Theme dances may be BTO or allow for non-standard dress.
